Hi all,

Could someone please advise me on what size of generator is required to run items on my boat (TV, lights ect) is 1000kw with a 3 pin adaptor enough for this? I'm on a tight budget do I can't really afford the £400 plus ones!

Thanks. :)

Thanks. :#

1,000 KW will be plenty and could power all the boats on the Thames at the same time.
Even £400 would not buy you one.

OTOH a genny rated at 1Kw #1,000 W# should run your telly and lights, but they output 240V AC and your boat lights #and tv as well# are 12V DC.
So you need to convert AC mains to 12V DC.

Don't buy one of these two stroke, very noisy and eat fuel

One of these #I suspect that was your "£400" could be bought used for somewhat less.

Depending on where you moor you may not be able to run a Generator when you need to. Also 1Kw, whilst happily running most things will not be enough to run power items like a vacuum cleaner, hairdryer etc.

I have a Honda 10i (1kVA) which I use to charge the batteries as necessary through a 3-state charger. It plugs into the shorepower socket. I also have a 1800W inverter which I use to run the high power mains items - which are not being used for long periods of time. The inverter also runs the TV.

I find this system works very well. Just a thought.
