Hi! So I’ve picked up a free boat from a farm, it’s an old sailboat with a 18ft length and it had a 3ft 6 keel that I cut down to 1ft (I’m not going to sail it or put a sail up at all)
I’ve scrubbed it up massively so it’s looking a lot cleaner, and I need help with a few things.
1) The ‘rub rail’ is completely rotted and worn so I’ve pulled most of it off. Cheap replacement ideas? I was considering rope, also what do I do with the old nails still stuck in and rusted?
2) The metal rails on the edges have a plastic cover which has completely degraded and snap right off. What is a good replacement for them?
3) What is the best way to get the metal bow rails looking new and shiny again?
I’ll probably need some more help on this... here’s a pic (also if you can identify the make and model of the sailboat that’d be brilliant
Thanks!!
