Hi everyone - we have a 44 ft luxury cruising yacht in The Adriatic and a 14 year old daughter who gets bored aboard. Ideally we would like to meet another couple with a little sailing experience and a similar aged daughter for a great holiday in the sun.

Share expenses only plus travelling cost.

We are young fun-loving strictly non-smoking 50ish. I am 28 years experience - yachtmaster.

He may or may-not be a wierdo and we are never likely to find out; but he was in contact with me last year and I did not like the sound of him then any more than I do now - and that is the reason that he was not invited aboard our boat. I have checked out his reply on UK.Sailing - it seems a pity that people are so cynical and aggressive.

It is also surprising to us that how difficult it is to find anybody to take advantage of our offer. We are completely genuine business people who enjoy cruising alone. It would be nice for a week to find a companion for the youngster and for the right people there would be a huge welcome.

Obviously given the circumstances we would want to meet anyone who was interested in advance. Our boat is our second home and they would be treated as guests so there would have to be the right chemistry.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

Rob

Agree, I've just read the responses to your post. The majority seem to be unhinged. Duncan's comment was despicable.

The good news is I don't think any of it will deter a genuinely interested party and a few reasonable people have responded in your defence.

Christ, you're just offering some sailing to some like minded people. In the real world you'd be lauded, in the strange world of the internet you get condemmed. The internet is a funny old place.

Thanks for your support - I was seriously beginning to wonder.

I have, by the way, through these forums, met an interesting chap who is well known here - he joined us on the maiden voyage of our new boat in 2007 - he is superbly knowledgeable of the area and was good fun to be with.

Mostly I have found good people here.
Best wishes,
Rob

Oh!, OK.. think I may have sent it to myself /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Sent it again, I would be happy to put more detail on ourselves in a PM - for obvious reasons - but in short and in addition to my profile, I have been sailing since I was 12'ish, SWMBO helps and youngest daughter has been on a boat a few times and quite likes it (that means she's competent, safe and happy to, but would rather go to Florida).

Which is partially the reason your post caught my attention
Edit: and we are strictly non-smoking
