I have Admiralty chart no 5053, which covers the whole of the Channel and can be accommodated on a good sized chart table, unfolded.

I used to have a number of these charts marked with the station idents of DF stations, the range of lights and other useful stuff from the olden days

Sadly they always bore the legend: For Instructional Purposes Only Not To Be Used for Naviagation and other daunting things.

I have a modern one that needs to be folded and is not half so handy for outline planning or daydreaming
......does anyone know if there is an equivalent of the old 5053?

Do you mean 2675?

I must check.

From the aspect ratio, it looks like the full sized Admiralty chart that I have.

The beauty of 5053 was in it's small size......sorry it is a bit unclear......I have one of each but I am looking to buy a new small one 5053, as was.

2675 is on a 1:500,000 scale. Judging from the image, it appears to cover a distance of c.300nm from west to east. So, must be A0 sized. (300nm @ 1:500,000 = 1.1 metres).

That is not going to fit on many chart tables unfolded (except on superyachts or big ships).
