I got a nice email from Admiral Insurers regarding my car insurance

I am getting £25 for each of the two cars that I have insured with them. They also are proudly not furlowing any staff plus giving £4million to the NHS in Wales.

I would note that the marina in Lefkas wrote to me to say that they would be charging summer monthly rate -25% while my boat is stuck there. They then wrote a week later to say that this was being reduced to the winter monthly rate -25%.

What are the chances that the marine insurers will be sending me a similar email since I cannot use my yacht??

Not a chance. When I started doing my restoration project, I enquired about "laid up" cover. The quotes for covering a boat kept in a locked shed were the same as if she'd been kept on a swinging mooring in the middle of the river.

I contacted SeaStart to ask if I could suspend my cover. They didn't agree but worth asking.
Have they furloughed staff and therefore adding to their annual profits?

We're insured with Admiral Marine who suggested we renew as "Laid up ashore" with the option of changing, should we be able to get out to Greece later in the year. Saved in the region of £100. They have staff working from home, of course you actually don't know how good an insurance company is until you make a claim but the service we have received so far has been excellent.

When it has been reported on the forums that the likes of Yyacht insurance are appearing to be increasing premiums by as much as 40% it would appear the product has probably been undersold and claims costs increasing.
Add the current BI insurance reporting in the press it appears insurance in general does not overall appear to be in a good place.
I am also wary on offers of cheap insurance not only for my boat but also home and bin the offers .
No such thing as a free meal.
