do you need to use the recommended epoxy glue?

I've got a 24" x 18" piece to put in to replace my companionway step - is there any sikaflex or similar that will do the job?

I used a spray-on contact adhesive for internal treads. Seems to have worked fine but do be careful placing the treadmaster as it sticks immediately with no chance of repositioning it.

Externally I have used the official epoxy glue that treadmaster supply. Internally (on our companionway steps) I used a Unibond Contact Adhesive which B&Q sell, but which allows a limited 'adjustment' of the position and doesn't 'grab' immediately like normal contct adhesive.

Internally, we used 'THIXOFIX' or similar sounding name. An impact adhesive. And used it for the headlining.

Stinks like hell, gives you a high and a really lousy headache if you breathe it for too long.

For one or two steps, should do well. Ours is still stuck after a few years - and it's a b*gg*r to chip up later- so I reckon it sticks OK.
