In spring i will be going to Denmark where i have found a Folkboat, provisionaly,in fact there are several, and when the snow goes i will buy one? All being well.
Im sure i will need items, such as line shakels spray hood cooker autopilot? etc etc,
Theres bound to be things needed not least paint and antifouling,

As prices tend to be about the same everywhere (to expensive !) im looking for outlets in Denmark to get a better idea, well in advance

Perhaps also if there are any Danes hear what could i write in a google search? All the Danish speaking sweeds and Finns i know have gone away for the winter!!

Thats great! im almost sure im going to want to buy new sails, the second most importent thing will be a sprey hood, any links to one of those?
I think my coming near to the home of the Folkboats the best idea, get to see a new crusing area and fit out a boat well known there.

Actually I have never seen a folkboat with a sprayhood. Not sure if stock ones exist. Maybe a IF boat's would work or you would have to get it custom made.

As for sails be warned that Scandinavian sailmakers are very expensive. It could be a better deal to take a look at Poland or the Baltic states or ever Thailand....

Sails i really want new and hitech? if they make sence ive no idea what they might cost though, Thiland? I wonder is it still cool in April?

Well do you plan to race? If yes you will have to get sails according to class rules and I guess modern carbon fiber things are a no no then. If you don't plan to race you probably won't need high tech either.

The best thing would be to buy a folkboat that has been raced as it would have good sails and you won't need to buy new ones. However if you want to sail the boat to the Med you probably want to get extra reefs fitted. Standard folkboat sails have one reef max, many have none.

As for the weather. April should be okay for Denmark. Late april for the Baltic too.

Im not going to race, but is good to be able to sail quickly,to be a bit faster than plastic polished boats of the same size.
Ive always had wooden boats with used sails recut, but i see other boats such as an old alpa 9.50 sailing in competion against the same and the one with hitech sails sails well in light wind??
Anyway id like a rolling head sail now becouse of the room a jib genoa take up below also 2 reef points on the main will be enough at least thats what i think i would like.
with only a few weeks before i come to Denmark im Dreaming! But whats certain is that i will have roller head sail spray hood depth sounder gps tiller pilot, before i leave.
The dreaming is where im going to put a tender, weather to use fold up steps or fix a ladder on the transum seen on the site above, and weather (realisticaly) im going to cook with gas with a grill, or petrol without??I will also fit(if there isent) a draining sink and fit a baby blake! ive tried the bucket and plastic bowl and dont like it.
Ive got quite a choise and have one i "will" buy but of coures i must see her first, if you know of other folkboats for sale (wood)im still provisionaly looking. All the boats at the moment have outboards,an inboard would be better???
what do you think for an FB??

I can live with one, when i used to have a stuart turner,i loved it when it went(mostly) but wished i had an outboard that when it went wrong i could just drop it overboard and put another on. So simple,
And in another thread i asked about going astern (ages ago) in a sail boat with a transom hung rudder in case it was only me that couldent very well--it wasent so an outboard will be fine, Thogh i had breifly a j24 and that had an out board and with full reverse (6hp) wouldent stop???

The link yes thats exactly what i want! i would buy such a folk boat, but untill i have one the perfet on is without the forward hatch and with a deck steped mast.
Also perhaps a metal mast but i really prefer wood even with all its problems,
Yest perfect! Almost!!

How can i add a photo hear?? can show you an almost perfect FB ! though the one from 1948 is very nice needs the forstay moved forward and depends what changes have been made below. And must have pushpit railings pullpit to hang the washing on put the solar panel on and clip the sun shade on!I think i better come up by car then i could come over to Sweeden as well, it is interesting

hear is the problem
Netop nedsat kr. 10.000 !
IF'erens storesøster, som udført med et lidt højere fribord og overbygning. Det er en smuk klassisk langkølet sejlbåd, som er velegnet til rolig tursejlads. Alt sædvanlig udstyr medfølger.
Beliggende i SEJLERLIV BUREAUETs udstilling.

I suppose he will give me 10000 KR off for some reason?????
I wonder if ill understand anything when ive been there for a week?????????????

You don't have a link to this boat do you?

This does not sound like a real folkboat. That implies it can't be raced and that could be a reason for it to be less easily sold. Also winter discounts are very usual here. He could want to sell the boat before he has to pay for spring fitting out and launching.

It says:
"Now 10.000 discount
The IF's bigger sister having a somewhat higher freeboard and cabin. It's a pretty classic sailboat suitable for quiet cruising. All usual equipment included. "

Well, this is certainly not a folkboat. However it has been designed by the same person, Tord Sundén, so it's certainly not a bad boat. But why you would buy it and sail it to the Med I don't know. You have certainly plenty of boats better suited for a lower price down there. This is just another long keeled GRP boat just like many others. It's not a classic..

Of course it's your decision but if you want a classic nordic design this is not your boat. This is leagues away from a wooden folkboat.
