With problems at my masthead and some others with mast problems in the harbour ... (I also have to paint the house etc) ... I have been looking at Cherry Picker ......

With my boats masthead at 18m from waterline .... and the alongside wharf being approx 4m above Water level ... I can get away with about 12 - 13m lift height ... (Of course I would prefer to have 18m height .. but that is serious money !).

Guy is selling a Simon Topper light trailer CP with a chair height of 13m. Went to see it yesterday - but guy had let the 4 deep cycle large batterys run down and not charged over winter. It would not start up. Condition was cosmetically sad where it had stood outside etc. But with manual pump - all worked.
Question is what damage to electrical control system .....

Made offer subject to him getting it working ... which he was not happy about, but agreed - in fact my offer is similar to what one in Sweden in working order would cost ..

I left and went off across Latvia to another seller who had heavy tractor farm rollers I need to roll flat my proposed Model Flying ground. Successful deal and went back today with trailer to collect - bring home.

Today had a chat on phone with Cherry Picker guy .. who said he has not had chance to work on it ... so I offered lower figure to take as is .. saving him the job of fixing it. Now I wait while he thinks about it ... as I see it - his choice is spend 700 - 800 on replacing the batterys ... maybe a few hoses / cables here and there .... clean it up ... and then try sell again. Or just take my offer and have no hassle.

Let's see what happens ....

Of course I can rent ... even with my pal being manager of local rental co - it would be at least 60 euros per day ... but then you feel under pressure to get job done regardless of weather etc.

I'm sure that it would be called on for other boats and use .. and anyway - once in full cleaned up and working order - it would sell at reasonable price.

Reckon it’ll pay for itself in no time at all if you rent it out to other boat owners where your boat is kept.

I hired a cherry picker from our local roofer at £70 a day for a 25m lift to take the tops out of some dead ash trees overhanging the telephone wires. Full loler certificate, which is essential in UK. . Bit scary up there especially when the batteries ran downJust got it down near enough to climb down, then had to jump start the engine to carry on.
Our boat yard had one for use by berth holders which was great.Better than going up the mast.

Does it have hydraulics? I just assumed so but saw a huge chain.

I know you’ll check them out for leaks.

Nice bit of kit.

A smaller unit like that can easily be taken around to your backyard to do your gutters
