I need to extend my anchor chain, which currently is all stainless. Would using galvanised chain introduce any galvanic issues? If it did is there a work-around other than buying more of the hugely expensive stainless chain?

Galvanic effects on anchor gear are very minor indeed. Chain is a poor conductor and most gear is not immersed for very long periods in corrosion terms. My three links of galvanised between stainless shackle and swivel lost most of its zinc after five years. Last three links of the chain about the same.

It's not an ideal situation in a damp salty chain locker. Having said that, the bitter end of my galvanised chain is attached to a short length of line in the chain locker with a stainless shackle, and it hasn't done any harm.
