I want to add a EVC LCD display to my Volvo´s D6 370, I think that the volvo new instrumentation is attached one to another via cable, sharing the same CAN bus.

If I plug (at the end or middle of the chain of intrumentation) a EVC LCD display, works fine? or need some extra programation or modification at engines?

Thank you.

I have done this (with EVC, as opposed to EDC). Works fine. You dont plug it into the instruments daisy chain canbus wiring, you actually plug it into a socket on the HCU (which is an electronics box under the helm with a big HCU decal on it). No adjustments or anything needed, just follow the simple instructions, and plug and play.

If you want fuel range and boat speed on the display, you need to feed a NMEA signal from your GPS, and you need to buy a NMEA converter unit from Volvo which takes the GPS NMEA signal and converts it into a language that can travel onto the Canbus. This is easy to do, it is pretty much plug and play as well This NMEA box costs an extra £370 or so, so the whole thing is £1100

I assume you have 2 engines? If so, please note you do not need 2x volvo displays. One display shows both engines perfectly well, and imho is better because it shows combined fuel burn and therefore the overall boat range

If you want the user manuals etc to see how to do it I can email them to you as pdfs

I see in Volvo last exhibition, that exist a menu in this display that show some "parameters" of the engines, and let change some called "Bits" in this parameters..

You know if possible to ajust some features of engines trought this option?

I think that the EVC display could contain a little "VODIA - Volvo diagnostics" inside.

About VODIA you know if exist somewhere documents about this aplication/interface for programming & testing the new Volvo D-series? I see some photos of VODIA system running under Pocket PC.

Thank you.

PD: I send you a private message whit my email address, thank you for the manuals.

I have sent the manuals

AFAIK the display doesn't allow user to program the engines. But I think you can buy VODIA, on a palm PC, if you want to do diy engine programming. I have not researched this, as I would mess something up.

A lot of the data that VODIA gives you can be read (but not written) on the EVC display, eg graphs/history of engine running data, turbo boost pressure, etc.
