Anyone use this type of adaptor? Any good?

I have tried different ones (cheaper) but they did not last very long.

i got a triple off e-bay for half that & it works fine. My Daughter-in-law said that Poundstretcher/ Wilkinsons(?) were selling doubles for under £3. I guess you need to consider the total load - but most stuff is pretty lightly loaded compared to a cigar lighter heater element anyway.

I Use a triple just made sure fuse to onboard socket was rated at less than 5amps. wiring to car fag lighter is probably higher rated that socket fitted to boat. just watch the load. better to replace fuses that wiring.

They are all pretty poor because there is nothing to positively hold the plugs into the sockets apart from friction so they are likely to work loose and make poor contact on the centre conductor. They are therefore not suitable for high loads as they could over heat as a result.
They are often not made of non rusting metals.

There are however some on the market that do positively lock together. Details were on here a few weeks ago but I have not made a note of the source.

Hi Cliff,

These look like they are made for the automotive market. I had similar and it didn't last long either - quickly rusted out.

Marinco ones are more expensive but are stainless steel and have an attached blanking cover They also support (if you use their plug) positive locking too.

Available from many chandlers but AFAIK only as singles so if you must have multiples you need to make up a box.

Maybe that is the way to go. Normally power outlets are not a problem but when the sprogs come along with thier moblie phones, i-pods etc etc a few extra plug-in points would be an advantage.
