Just getting everything set for engine servicing this weekend, first time doing it myself although I will be assisted by mechanically minded friend.

I was looking at the crankcase breathers - it was not immediately obvious to me how to get them off. The new ones look like they twist on but not properly threaded.

Is there a knack to getting these on and off

(thought I'd check first before applying hammer)

Thanks

I use a chain wrench or strap remover thingy for oil filters to twist them off.
Might need some welly if they haven't been changed regularly.

yep same as oil filter rubber with rubber washer/seal give it a coat of oil when you do it back up.........Bloody expensive little filter. Dont overfill the engine with oil otherwise you will be replacing the bloody breather thing again (like I did !)

The bloke who serviced it last year overfilled one of them - it will use that fairly quickly - he said. It hasn't. Hardly used any 9I suppose this is a good thing really). I shall be putting the right amount of oil in this year. Hopefully will be slightly less smoky when cold.
