SWMBO = "She Who Must Be Obeyed" (i.e. wife/ partner) originally used by Ryder Haggard in the book "She" to refer to Ayesha, the heroine. Popularised by Rumpole of the Bailey as a reference to his wife who never appeared.

Watch out also for variants of:-
FWIW - For What It's Worth
AFAIK - As Far As I Know
IMHO - In My Humble (or Honest) Opinion
ROTFLMHO - Rolling on the Floor Laughing My Head Off

Puzzled me to, it's not in my (rather old) Collins English Dictionary /forums/images/icons/crazy.gif

Perhaps it should have been acronymic or acronymous?

Anyway, what I want to know is what "nm" means. I see it often in otherwise empty replies and for the life of me I can't figure out what it means.........../forums/images/icons/mad.gif

Re: nm = no message

nm in the subject line, means that's it. the whole message is in the subject line. no need to open the post to read it.
