I read "A Short Walk in the Hindu Kush" a few years ago and thought it was very well written. By the same author "The Last Grain Race" should appeal, parts of it are worthy of Wodehouse. Both titles by Eric Newby.
In case you find this old hat, perhaps not many of you have read "Brown on Resolution" an early novel by C S Forester. Although told in a matter of fact fashion I have always found it a strangely haunting tale. Brian.

"Brown on Resolution" has been a favourite for some time. a good demonstration of why forrester became so famous with his later works.
