Ack can\'t find a 1/4 inch brass fuel line splicer

Hi guys, having real trouble here, went to a local agricultural shop and other places. Trying to find a simple brass 1/4 splicer where I can put something in line in the fuel line. To do this I need to splice in a new bit of pipe...anyone help here?

Need one tomorrow/saturday and running out of time, needs to be 1/4 inch. Here is an example from the States...need something in the UK, preferably from a franchise store so I have a good chance of getting it..

If your fuel lines are plastic or rubber I wouldn't worry about using proper fittings. Just use a piece of copper tube of the appropriate size from the plumbers. 6mm probably. (I hope it's not for petrol!)

A piece of copper pipe with an olive at each end soldered in does the job.

Smarter than me that's for sure. I don't know anyone with a metal lathe no.

I think it's down to terminology. I'll keep trying, thanks for the posts.

I have a boxfull of of new non metric brass pipe fittings if you don't find a fitting locally and have to do a lash up, come back to me and I will go and look

Try a motor factors, they should be able to supply, but not halfords as if they knew what you were talking about it would most probably cost you lots..

Try a welding supply house for ¼" barb X ¼" barb connector - brass, they are used for joining / repairing gas hoses.

Is it a good idea to have plastic or rubber piping for a petrol installation? I would have thought it needed to be all copper with swaged hydraulic hoses for the flexibles. Maybe I'm the only fussy one with regard to petrol!

Re: Ack can\'t find a 1/4 inch brass fuel line splicer

I am a little confused here. Are you using ¼" brass fuel line and want to splice something into it with ¼" couplings? If so you want compression joints (barb couplings are for rubber or plastic tubes). The second point is I would not use brass for a fuel line on a boat - too prone to failure if not adequately supported and a real bugger to bend. I would use annealled copper tubing. Compression joints available from any decent plumbers merchants or hydraulic company..

Hi Cliff, I just want to cut the rubber fuel line and splice it to another piece of fuel line. A friend said use a bit of 10mm copper plumbing pipe (micro bore I think they call it) and shove 2 inches of that down each hose end and two jubilee clips securing both sides...does that make sense?
