"Accommodations" A question. Asking merely out of interest of course.

Thames or Medway . Would anybody owning a residential property with a obvious permanent mooring , occupied or not, abutting the river presently be charged for "accommodations" by the EA . ? Would have thought a good source, like the rates, of reliable income.

Accommodations legislation is peculiar to the Thames and does not apply on other EA waterways. Although potentially a significant source of income it has been badly managed in the past but the severe reductions in funding are now causing the EA to harden their attitude to collecting revenue through this route.

Back in time immemorial , lucky enough to have a bit of rough grazing land , nothing fancy, marshland, rock hard and cracked in summer and usually under an inch of water in winter. Annual bill for drainage, not a lot, but still had to contribute a few coppers each year. No problem, just went with the territory.
