I had an accident when using my polishing machine with an 8in lambs wool head attached. The lamb’s wool head caught the electric cable and broke at the fittings inside.
To stop this happening again I should take more care, but there is always a repeat of this happening in the future. I want to fit a plug and socket to the cable a short distance from the machine head, would this be OK.

Ps I have just returned from Maplins where they only have a 3 pin plug and socket instead of 2 pin

Always have the cable over your shoulder, when those machines 'bite' it can be quite hard, could also snag and knock the machine into the gelcoat:eek:

This is the thing you are asking for.

Black and Decker used to use them... so you may still find them with the B&D stuff.

But they come undone too easily IMHO. I have some and I usually end up taping them up so that they don't come undone.

Cable over the shoulder is the trick.

Cable over the shoulder is more for working on cars as not to drag the cable over the paintwork and scratch it.
As the work is below you on a car, it is easy to have it sitting on the shoulder without problems.

Not always possible when working on boats, there are just too many different positions and angles you need to get into, and I don't want it anywhere near my neck thanks very much.

Much better to just ensure it is at 6:00 from the leading edge, I clip mine onto my hip and keep the lead from the hip to polisher tight at all times.

5/10.

No injury sustained but a good effort with the electric lead carnage!
