I don't know who else reads the MAIB accident reports, but I find some of them very interesting. In particular, this year's reports include the grounding of the inter-island boat Trident VI on the Percee Rock between Herm and Jethou, the fatal capsize of the Broads boat Breakaway 5, and the collision of the Donald Redford with Hythe Pier. All well worth a look by small boat sailors, and accessible here.

I keep an eye on these but the current crop don't seem that relevant to us raggies. Interesting to see even a commercial ferry can prang on the Percee rocks, plenty of yachts do it each year.

Disagree ie the 2 Loch Ryan Reports

Both the above reports are fascinating in that Ferries may have caused the washes that caused the waves that caused the problems. It's interesting that in the 12 July 2003 case that the (generated) wave in question that came from the NW may have been caused by the Troon ferry which passed by 25 minutes earlier. It's not nice to find out that a PAN PAN PAN can be knocked out "by aerials within the vicinity" and the HMCG is often undermanned. What's also not nice to find out is that the yacht Catalina's request for the search coordinates to be corrected was swamped by SAR vessels blocking C16.
