Accident on the Tideway today ...

"Barge Crashes into River Boat" it says, but read the text and look at the pictures and it looks more like the passenger boat hit the tug and its barge.

So with another City Cruises crashing into Tower Bridge recently does the panel think the passenger boat skippers are arrogant and complacent. When I chastised one a couple of years back on the VHF for not using sound signals before making a turn I got silence followed by a yell over the radio of "WE'RE THE EXPERTS HERE!!". I beg to differ ;)

Total silence from London VTS of course.

Bunch of bullies from my experience of them, perhaps someone's got a positive story? But I doubt it.

Couldn't of put it better. Had several cases of them trying to bully me, but I've always just ignored them. For me they are easily the worst commercial operator on the river.

Those Trip Boats.

They appear to treat that section of river as their own personal fiefdom. Of all the generators of wash on the river those trip boats are by far the worst.
The Clippers seem to be far more professional bunch .
One assumes that that normal navigation rules do apply in the Pool of London ?

Absolutely. In addition I don't know where 99% of them did their VHF course but it bares no resemblance to the one I did!
"Oi mate" was not a recognised method for calling another vessel the last time I checked.
