Hello there, has anybody has much experience of going out to sea and in from sea into the harbour through the barrage, at low tides, is it possible or does the water get to low to gain access. I am planning a trip out on sunday, and leaving at high tide 0730, planning on coming in on high tide, but would be nice to know what the options are, we are just going outside the bay, towards brean to do a spot of fishing.
Thanks very much for any help. I am told that its not been dredged for a long time ?

Not sure of the current state of dredging.

On big spring tides sometimes theres an hour over low tide when theres not enough water in the outer harbour. 02920 700234 is the phone number for the barrage lock controllers they will give you up to date information about silting/dredging.

The channel was last dregdegd about a month or six weeks back, but do ring/email them, they are more than happy to speak to you. I don't think you'll have a problem either, especially with a motoro boat. Always best to check though.
