Just purchased a TV for the boat that will run on shorepower or batteries. The place we wish to put the TV is adjacent to a 12v outlet. If I wish to use AC there I will have run cable and fit a socket.

When in the marina if I run it from battery power and keep the battery charger on will it have any effect on battery life?.

Thanks in anticipation

Martyn

Assuming the battery charger is capable of covering the charge current for the batteries plus the overhead from the TV and other bits on, then no. If however their is a shortfall then you'll slowly discharge the batteries.
So whether you fit the 240VAC socket really depends on the size of your battery charger.

Having said that. Which is most unlikly. Once you go to bed. The battery charger will have every thing back to normal by morning. So no problem if you do flatten it a bit.
