HI I have a small electrolux absorption fridge on board in yacht med. based. I normally leave it open when away. Recently however I had work on the yacht for about 2 weeks and the poor little fridge will have been working away with door open during this period (workman) did not realise to close door.

It now does not cool. Light comes on etc but no cooling. I have heard abuot turning it upside down and shaking it?? to remove crystals or something like that. any experieince out there of this kind of problem?

Easy fix with this type of fridge, turn it off, take it out, if on a flexi gas connection no need to disconnect, turn it upside down and leave it overnight. Next day, turn it right way up again and reinstall but DO NOT turn on for at least 5 hours.

After that time, turn on and it will operate properly again.

Try this on a mono hull

and that be why they are no good for monos. Pity, because refridgeration is one of the biggest chompers of battery power on a boat.

I've got one for a wee hoose with no lectrickery, i have to keep it level. The house that is, not the fridge.
