Volvo are due to release full NMEA 2000 engines sometime this year - I think I remember an email from them suggesting Spring 2005 (my company was looking at building a NMEA 2000 marine monitoring system).
As far as I know their current engines (EVC) are an old Canbus standard (can't remember which one I'm afraid).
AFAIK (as told by volvo) this stuff isn't simple plug and play and Volvo have to build a black box converter to enable their data to display on the e series, and that's not going to happen anytime soon they said
C-PAC Systems (Volvo) were one of four engine manufactures (Yanmar,Evenrude,Yamaha the others) that demonstrated NMEA 2000 engine data sharing at the NMEA Connectfest held at the Miami Boat Show in February. Engine data was displayed on various NMEA 2000 display devices from Faria, RayMarine, Maretron, Teleflex, Blue Water Data, Simrad to name a few. Twelve manufactures demonstrating over 40 NMEA 2000 certified devices participated in the Connectfest.
