Anyone know anything about the boat tied up in windsor near the Eton boathouse? It looks like it may have been dumped. What happens to abandoned boats on the Thames? Are they sold off?
You have to be joking!
They just join the other wrecks (and hobo canal boat wrecks) that EA either can't do, or won't do, anything about.
What about "Triad" (name long since worn away) port side above Whitchurch Lock? Long since covered in green slime and now being taken over by the brambles.
Perhaps Angelaq would like to tell what EA can and can't do about them?
..and have you seen the old (EA I think) barge outside Thames & Kennet Marina almost opposite Tesco? Someone has taken up residence on it, set up a tent top (possibly stolen from Byrons?) together with other home comforts.
It is competing with the one at Richmond, may even be related, similar design concept!
I'll try and remember to get a photograph next time I'm out.

Ahh but the one in Richmond has been made from scraps found floating along the river for the past 20 or so years.
He has quite a remarkable floating vegetable patch as well.

...and quite a large number of local defenders. I believe that even the PLA take their shoes off before coming in for a cup of tea. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I find Ian quite fascinating actually. I would love to hear his background.
He must have been there 20 / 25 years? he was quite aggressive to start with if I remember but as you say now has the local community firmly behind him now. Never spoke to him but I did wave on Friday when I saw him out.

He sounds like a really interesting character, anybody got any photos?
'knot on duty' by any chance? How does one go about legally rescuing a boat like that? I've been looking for a day boat project type thing, she looks ideal!
I could just nip down there one night with an outboard and nick it, but I'm not that sort of person. Would the EA be permitted to allow me to contact the owner, or would the data protection act take effect?
Free trip on a small day boat in 6 months for anyone who can help me out! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
