AARRRGHHH!! THEY\'RE STUDS!

Managed to get hold of builders, not much info but was told the keel bolts are studs! Is this too much for a virgin owner? I was a lift engineer in a previous life. Still in love but.....

Ah! Well now..... Well it has been done before. I guess I would be seeing how much the price will drop and would be talking to a yard about costs.

Re: AARRRGHHH!! THEY\'RE STUDS!

Hi tillergirl. Have enquired at local boat yard, they can't say for sure as it may be harder. Fair enough. £1200+ would be the lower level. I do get a free scrub though! However I also have to join the marina to be hauled out as it is winter. That and the hard will be £100pw. The boat needs a fair bit of money thowing at it already, which I am quite prepared to do. £6000 is cheap I think. (like I'd know!) After telling me she was 101% confident about the keel the owner will have to come down a lot. Will ring her tomorrow. As much as I like a challenge......
Thanks for your (and everyone else's) advice, glad I found this forum!!
Karl.

Re: AARRRGHHH!! THEY\'RE STUDS!

Hi, if the studs are screwed into captive nuts, and if old then they may well be Whitworth if this is the case and you can get the studs out of the nuts, then I have a couple of metres of 1/2 inch stainless Whitworth rod available, from when I did my bilge keels. I had to have it made to order. If I can help, let me know.
