I've just torn a 1/2 inch rip in my two hour old Gill wellies. I'm reasonably calm now....

Any ideas what glue to attempt a repair? Apparently they're natural rubber - have tried a bike tyre repair kit but the patch pulls off again. Have also tried a red hot screwdriver to try a weld, but no worky.

Any suggestions?

Superglue ... but before attacking it with a red hot poker !

I split the heel of some "wellie shoes". It worked on them.

Did anyone else misread the title?:o
I use this stuff to repair my fishing waders, it’s as strong a glue as you’ll find and can be used alone or to hold a patch in place. Use sandpaper to roughen the area around the hole before applying and leave it somewhere flat to dry overnight. There’s an equivalent called Stormsure which seems to work just as well.

+ 1 for Aquasure we use it a lot for emergency dive suit repairs. Down side is it is quite expensive and goes off quickly in the tube once opened. I used to store mine in the freezer.between uses.

I must have caught it on something on deck. I was up Loch Striven, the wind got up,boat was on it's side,I was jumping around a bit. I suspect eyelet hooks for a non-existant sprayhood...ah well.

Another +1 for Aquasure.
If the tear/hole is quite large and/or is in a "bending/flexing " position try using a cloth patch as well. The glue sticks to the welly and patch and performs well (in my experience). It struggles without some form of reinforcing on a really hard-working area.
I didn't know it went "off" in the tube! Bummer, probably have a half-used tube in my "everything's in here drawer".
