......patchy warm sunshine, broken thin clouds, steady mild westerly breeze, spinnakers ahead and astern, a making tide, wing-and-wing from Yarmouth to Swatchway.....

Good company, good craic, smiles all round. And cherry Bakewells.....

Sunday on the Solent.... in January!

I am so jealous! I usually sail through the winter, but this year I am working on a refit and havent managed to sail since October, I am getting withdrawel symptoms.

A very nice boat, left La Rochelle on Thursday evening and moored up at Saxon Wharfe at 0030 Sat/Sun. Worked very well at sea. Two excellent sea berths in saloon, nice motion underway, never a fan of in mast reefing, but hey it was electric and even I can manage two buttons. The gizzmos worked and seemed to be well thought out. Split levels take some getting used to, but at least you can see where you are going and wave at the common people. Owners suite is superb and the come as standard list is impressive, but then so is it's price. This one was 4 years old and had been in the sun a lot, but with a bit of love and attention would soon be gleaming again. Overall a superb yacht. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Sunday on the Solent in January is not my idea of heaven. But a beam reach in Lagos to Portimao with the sun streaming down wearing just shorts and a tee shirt, now that's what I call good sailing! Then down to the beach for volleyball and an after game swim, not bad for January!

But a beam reach in Lagos

B***** probably couldn't get any one of three engines going again....! He's just searching for cheaper wine.....

Just ignore him, everybody. That's just a 'tax-ghost' friend's way of sticking two fingers up to the world in general - and me in particular.

But just you wait - the HMRC will be totting up your 'days in the United Kingdom in the current tax year' under the NEW rules.

Happy Easter to the pair of you!
