So that’s it my week at SunCoast is complete, and I can now send of for my ICC and VHF Licences.

A great experience, and many thanks to Clive, Phil and Lawrie.

I’m just a bit jealous that I happened to choose the week when the injector pump went. Why? Because the lucky sods on this weeks course will be enjoying a new(ish?) Gobbi 425 to train on, and it looks a whole lot sexier that the F36!

Actually, I was impressed with the F36, and have to admit that twin shafts do make them easy to manoeuvre compared to my mainly outdrive based experience. (although we did manage to avoided having to dock in windy conditions). Just a shame about the KAMD 43’s though, well the port one anyway. I see Clive’s posted about the injector pump, but that was on the back of the supercharger belt pulley bearing, and the sticky solenoid, and……. Oops sorry Clive, it really is a nice boat, and we did enjoy the free diesel engine course on Thursday afternoon!

Lots to tell, the dolphins, the SBS check off Gib, photos to publish etc. but I need to catch up on some more work first………..

well it certainly sounds a lark. Did you get a chance to rip out the perfectly good engines and replace them with just one?

Otherwise, spending a whole week on an ICC course (and not replacing the engines with another engine) must have meant you had plenty of time for visits to That Chinkie which (as i have said before) ought to be closed down because they served me far too many free drinks instead of slinging me out, which i was rather depending upon in order to get some sleep.

Unfortunately Matt I spent a whole week looking for 'the perfectly good engines' to rip out, but couldn't find any! Just a pair of well worn 43's, and since only one worked, the job was already done !! (just needed the rudder indicator adjusting to save centralising the good unit, and removing the bad one!).

Yes the Chinky was good, but we didn't play 'the Clive & Phil card' so no free drinks (except the peach snapps). Did enjoy the 'Passage to India' and had the best ever peshwarri nan amongst other delights.

The \"Clive and Phil\" card

ah, i have evidently been away from yorkshire for far too long so I stupidly bought them drinks instead of the other way around. Can't think why, though, i mean they must be rolling in loot what with four people on an icc course for a week and their only costs are erm the boat depreciation, fuel, a replacement fuel pump and lots of lunch food... :)

Re: The \"Clive and Phil\" card

Yes I must be losing it a bit myself, having lived in Lincolnshire for 6 years now, I left 2 (full) tins of St Miguel in the fridge on the F36. Perhaps Clive will save them for me.

Not so much well worn as well used Martin. Good job the pump decided to go on the afternoon of the last day eh. She'll be back up and running in time for next Mondays double course. Shes been fault free for 14 months of very hard work so cant complain.
Glad you enjoyed the course, and good luck with your boat search Regards Clive

Sorry Clive,

Didn't want to to give the great forum public a wrong impression. The F36 is surely a fine and well maintained boat. I was very taken with how well thought out the layout was, both in terms of fly bridge and saloon, seating and ergonomics, but also deck access.

Do let me know how Lawrie finds the outdriven Gobbi in the close quarters handling department.

The Raw students survey the gel coat damage on the first day (only kidding Clive!)

The one Clive didn't want you to see, the fault diagnosis part of the extra-cirricular diesel course, just prior to learning the horror of the broken injector pump.

Happier times awaiting darkness in Gib, for the night miles training.
