A young friend has got himself a fresh YM and his first own AWB, and plans an anticlockwise circuit of the UK, starting Wales and including the Scillies. He wants to haul out for a week in N.Devon or Cornwall before the Scillies this early autumn. I can help with yard suggestions S/E of Land's End, but is there anywhere on the N.Coast of Devon? A boat hoist and hardstanding in a small boatyard are all that's required, where you are allowed to do you own work. Any suitable locations gratefully received (or places to avoid..) TIA

We have those facilities which can be used under temporary membership at very reasonable rates.
But, we’re in Barry, South Wales - Barry Yacht Club, - although as he is starting from Wales……………..?

Pretty limited on that coast, certainly no boat hoists that I know of.
Watchet may be able to help but not sure on the current status regarding cranes, think they are using hire cranes and batching boat lifts together.
Watermouth hire in a truck with HIAB.

Slightly North of Watchet, Uphill or Portishead can cope with most.

Chapman and Hewitt at Wadebridge might work.

As mentioned, more options in South Wales or South Coast.

Forget Watermouth for an AWB fin-keeler. Essentially the N Devon coast has no suitable boatyards to lift an AWB. Cross the Bristol Channel or go round Lands End.
