...and succesful East Coast Walk

The Magnificent Seven (Moody Sabre, Grahame and Artemis all with partners plus moi) had an extraordinarily pleasant walk as planned. The Chequers beer and food was (as always) excellent, and folowing an hour and a half of imbibing, the return trip was achieved in a more direct line via footpaths and roads.

Nice to meet everyone, and we can expect MoodyS to post piccies at some point...

I second larry's sentiments a very very pleasent Sat morning although the navigation was a little suspect on the return leg. good food good beer and good company only thing missing was some boats.
Nice to catch up with everyone looking forward to the next encounter

A cracking day it certainly was.
We walked the seawall (tide out on the way)

And 5 miles later (I measured it when we got back) we reached

where excellent food and beverage was enjoyed.
A shorter across fields (you know, those green and brown things) we got back to the Blackwater

we watched the Lasers on the BSC pond

I think Larry said duckpunt

We got back to the lock after 3 miles

and to Heybridge Basin as the sun was dropping

Most definately would have liked to have joined you but spent the day crawling around an attic , working /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
Good to see you all had a good time and hope you are all up for the forthcoming weekend get together in Norfolk /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
Well , it's only right that you Southerners should travel North for a change /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Good day with cracking weather, Navigation to pub excellent no maps needed, something about instinctive I suspect. Navigation back involved 3 maps, 3 minds, no water, got back in the end. Good to meet up and should be on next Jolly.

well done all, sounds like a very good day out was had.

We had to abandon cradle collection, so went off to boat show instead.

Shame - we had hoped to join in but taxiing kids around took precedence unfortunately. Walked this path a few weeks ago though and it's a really great stroll by the river. Still can't get over the number of mobile homes though!

Sorry I haven't answered but have been away for the week. As you walked away from the cafe along the sea wall, you will have passed the Heybay/Fairplay Community Barge at right angles to the seawall. Just past that is a little 'bay' created by a lighter and TG is moored, mast down, full cover over 'in the bay'. The other boat is 'Tintagel (also covered over) once the motor launch of the Receiver of the Metropolitan Police, undergoing an internal refit.

Glad you all enjoyed yourself. I've got to work away for 12 weeks only home at the weekends

Absolutely right. But it pays big sailing vouchers! Actually I'm running a course with some really good people so once I'm working its ok; but the nights away in deepest Hampshire are desperately dull.
