I know this Forum section is still a "trial" but to my mind it's meeting all the criteria for a very successful online boating community. We have sailors and motor boaters, from number of different clubs, a mix of PBO technicalities with Scuttlebut banter...and I bartered my redundant mainsail cover for a bottle of Oz Red! We need to spread the word amongst our fellow boaters and get more participating. Graham took the initiative and got this started...we owe him a pint (at least!)

Agree with everything that you say except for owing Graham a pint. He owes me a half, so there is only a half due to him from me if anyone is getting them in /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re half I owe you.I started to panic when I saw you at BYC the other day Don but relaxed when I realized the bar was closed.. Phew /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Can I ask about the geographical coverage of this forum? We have a small, trailable Orkney motor cruiser which we often take to Milford Haven. How far west do you consider the "Bristol Channel" extends? Are we disqualified by being beyond Swansea?

It extends to anyone who wants to use the forum I reckon.

I also find it handy to be able to speak to someone from "next door", as it were, for those handy nuggets of local information. eg Castlemartin doesn't fire at weekends, so go ahead and cut the corner (they stop firing anyway if you go inshore , but don't tell anyone I said that....)

not forgetting, of course, BRISTOL!
And up the river to Bath as i go both ways (if you'll excuse the expression) /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

That's what I thought. Then I saw some little puffs of smoke on the shore, followed by plumes of water to SEAWARD of us /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Hmm...Bath..yes why not. Clearly we need a line that runs say along the south Zummerset border, then mid-way through Devon to Padstow in Cornwall. This surely HAS to be the limit of the Bristol Channel. Actually didn't Glastonbury flood from the sea in days of old (yes I know it still does from the sky at the end of June every year). Any forumites keep their boat at Glastonbury?? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

He may have been able to walk on water but Bristol Channell mud would have slowed him down a bit /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
