The paint work on the steel is still original and in pretty good shape except a few areas top side which to maintain pristine condition are in need of a little attention. Now on the car, I have successfully used Chips Away/Paintmanster who have spot matched the paint and produced an excellent job. (I can't tell and I'm picky!) Unfortunately the same tradesman won't touch my steel boat as he is concerned at using non automotive paint and clogging his spray. Now, I have used a spray can (not a spray gun) but cannot mix paint to match the new white to the old white. I really don't want a brush job and am looking for a seemless repair. I have spoken to a couple of shipwrights whose view is "you won't match it" and "best to leave until it all needs a full re-paint in the yard" Any suggestions, should I just accept the hull and most of the paintwork is great, but for a few marks top side (suggestion is that electric polisher of old may unfortunately have started the damage) I will just have to live with them. I reckon there could be a days work for likes of ChipsAway if anyone knows of a boaty equivalent for Thames.
