A long-standing friend emigrated from Somerset to Ipswich several years ago, and became involved in helping with the Waveney Stardust project which provides boating experiences for people with disabilities.

I've had the privilege of a couple of trips, and learned today that their second boat is almost ready. My friend (with justified pride) sent me some pix, and I feel that I should share them with you to show how much can be done by honest, dignified, and hardworking volunteers.

I know that some on the Forum are involved in charitable sailing work, but if you aren't, and live in East Anglia, and know of a disabled person who might enjoy a day out with some excellent, cheerful, and very knowledgeable crew, then have a look at their website.

The boat (42ft x 12.5 x 2.75 ft) is completely designed for wheelchair access, and has a water ballast system which can alter the air draft by 9 inches. (Apparently this is an Important Feature on the Broads /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif)

(They are always after volunteers and funding, BTW !)
