couldn't help notice in the marina on sunday that about nearly a quarter of the name plates on our pontoon had been taken up.
It looks like a lot of people are not staying in the marina for the coming season - don't know if they are selling up or just moving to somewhere cheaper.
Was speaking to another berth holder who has been at Bray for years and he has never seen this happen before. Will be interesting to see if these berths will be filled by new boats.

A lot of boats have disappeared from our marina as well. Not sure where they have gone but there dont seem to be as many boats for sale on the sales pontoon either.

Hi Chris

Just to advise that you spotted a spring clean operation. Historically we gear up for the start of the season being April 01. A lot of the nameplates are being renewed as they look tatty.

As this is also the end of our berthing year some boats are moving to a different reach of the river. We will also be welcoming new boats in April as they join us for the new season. In fact some of these new berth holders are forum members. I am sure they ,as with all new boaters, will be given a very warm welcome.

Let us hope this is going to be a dry and warm season.

All the best

Hi Mike

Thanks for that - it's reassuring to hear that they are not all leaving - I thought I might had upset my neighbours and they were all leaving !! either that, or they moving to a different part of the marina to avoid being close to me when I come in to berth.

Mike

with regards to:

'In fact some of these new berth holders are forum members. I am sure they ,as with all new boaters, will be given a very warm welcome.'

are these people aware of the new marina rules regarding new berth holders must supply all existing berth holders on the same pontoons with a welcome drink?

You sure you weren't wandering around near No Regrets new berth? Word gets around quick you know, even to new forum members...

Rumour has it that you are upgrading Broom owners to have a gold name plaque in accordance with the standard of boat?? /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Yep, they can screw them straight over the ones from wooden boats that have rotted away... /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
