Over the years I have made many friends on this forum, I have even sailed with 2 one in Uk and one here in Oz. So I enjoyed emailing Phil and discussing his new to him boat especially regarding mast lowering mods. So Phil got his boat in service and he described some good sailing out of Wales.
You can imagine my dismay to hear the boat was damaged in the harbour in a storm. So much more so when I received an email with this link to Ebay.

I feel like I knew the boat in its glory (but only from photos). Now to hear it is for sale "for parts" seems so sad.
I must be a bit nostalgic as I can't imagine any GRP boat being damaged beyond repair but clearly the insurance company thought so.
So this is no tragic restoration project as the boat was in service prior to Feb. It does need a new mast, rigging and new jib (s) or roller reefing.
As my little boat has had 3 mast replacements and 4 sets of sails over the years I can't imagine this such a problem.
There is of course a bit more cosmetic damage. You would have to look at it.
So what is this post about? Well to promote for Phil the sale of his damaged boat at what must be a give away price. Yes he will take 99p if necessary but of course you have take it away or pay storage fees.
But also to lament the death of any fine boat. Especially as it would seem to be capable of giving a lot more pleasure for many years. Despite not needing another boat if it were not for geographical problems I would be tormenting my brain as to why I should not buy it and fix it myself.
Or am I just a softee who loves boats, any boat olewill
