People who lurk about in the middle of threads, setting up polls to offend other forumites, and people who "slag off" other forumites for their posts.
Gludy has as much right as anyone else to post here.
All he seems to want is sensible debate and argument to be used as a learning process..which we just dont get.
If you dont like his posts, if it doesnt interest you, bores you, or you haven't got the required acumen to get your head round the arguments, then you dont have to reply to them..you dont even have to read them.
Let those who are interested get on with the debate, without all the comments, snide posts and implied threats embedded in messages.
I'm afraid the Benny Hill Tune did it for me...how childish.
I am beginning to sense undertones of the H1 affair here, so lets stop it peeps, before it starts.
If you want to be bored, then I could bore you all to death with radio topics, which I could post endlessly on...enough to make you all throw your handhelds over the side, in fact I'm sure every one of us could bore everyone on some topic or other.

At least Pauls topics have been about the technical side of boating, a refreshing change from the NB posts of late.

So please can we all be nice to each other in future.

Thank You All For Your Time

Steve.

I agree. Freedom of speech is what we are allowed and personally I enjoy silly posts as well as intellectua ones. There are a ot of posts I dont like but choose not to read or just ignore a reply. Iam sure alot of people do the same witht he stuff I post on here.

I am posting less these days for two reasons 1 I am reading and learning 2 I have nothing to really add or debate this situation.

I am trying to find out what has changed on this forum since the old days. One reason I came up for the way things were is that we as forumites are sitting behind our computers more and not meeting enough. We used to have Byrons bash and TCMs new years party and bbqs on the beach as well as pub meets.

I think there needs to be a meeting of new members to old and less of this anamosity from behind the keyboard.

Steve,
I appreciate your comments and agree wholeheartedly that , within the rules of the forum , everyone is entitled to post on any topic they like.
The problem recently has been in the style of the threads rather than the topic. I have assumed that someone has, by his style, been trying deliberately to wind people up and has succeeded brilliantly.
Maybe a significant number of forumites have misunderstood the situation in the same way. That is unfortunate but hardly surprising.

You have to admit that in the latest threads good humour between the antagonists has thankfully returned.

You think thats bad at least you can drive there !! I have to fly or take a ferry which seems to close down during winter. Or I take an overnight flight at a cost of £170 add to that a hotel and taxi fares its a night mare.

Due to certain reasons I will be over more in the UK and hope to be able to attend said parties if they take place.

Yes you've probably hit the nail on the head Dom.
E. mail culture is probably responsible.
You should see the terse one-liners that I get at work, no hello, please or thank you, yet when you speak to people they are perfectly freindly.
I dont think it does our society any good generally, and you are absolutely right,
if people met each other, then they would at least gain (hopefully) a mutual respect.
Problem is of course where to have such a bash, as we are all over the country.
There's a sizeable number on the South/SW Coast, an increasing number in Wales,
Fred and the Mudhoppers (sounds like a band) on the east coast, plus contingents from Scotland and Ireland...have I missed anyone?.
Oh and all over the world...as well.
It is just possible that I might be able to get a venue here at school during a shutdown given enough notice, at least it would be central and unless coming from Scotland or Cornwall, then nobody would have to drive more than 150 to 200 miles to get here.
