Copied below is a photo of the 'black box' for the Sea Frost mechanical refrigeration system on my friend's SO 40 here.

It has a belt driven compressor mounted on a bracket on the engine, and the two short brown wires coming out of the bottom of the box go to the control knob for turning it On/Off.
These two wires previously had chocolate box connectors on them, but they corroded and the unit stopped working.
I tried 'cutting back' the wires as far as possible to get 'new' wire, but it is still all in poor condition.
I would ideally like to replace the wires, but I am not too sure how to get into the box.
The two S/S hex heads on the surface of the box are lag-screws going through the box and attaching it to the wooden bulkhead.
I am thinking that it will probably be a major dismantling exercise involving taking the reefer pipes off, and losing the gas, and then having to re-charge the system again - unless anybody has any ideas for 'getting into' the black box without doing this?

If you remove the hex screws, does the top cover come off? It may be that the piping is in the back half, and the lower pipe has a cut-out for the pipe.

On the wires, it is surface corrosion of the copper. You could spray some (I don't like to say it or usually use it) WD40 and allow it to go into the cable by capillary action, then crimp the in-line blue onto the wires. You should be able to get a good connection - that is, if the cover will not come off easily. Alternatively, you could clean the wires with Bakers Fluid, and then spray wash, WD40 and crimp.
