Just returned from a weeks landbased holiday in Olu Deniz. The coastline is stunning and the weather was absolutely perfect, calm seas and blue skies. Did some jet skiing with my wife and seven year old son on board, great fun, despite them not letting me go flat out. Also did some canoeing in the sea, very relaxing.

The highlight (for me) was a trip out on a Gulet. This was marred slightly by my wife and son both getting stung by wasps. Fortunately neither of them went into anaphylactic shock but it's pretty scary to think what the consequences would have been if they had.

On the trip we visited a few beautiful bays and achorages. Saw a couple of tasty boats (Azimut 46 and a Ferreti). My latest pipedream now revolves around buying a 50 foot sailing catamaran (sorry guys), unless I can afford Princess 20M, when I retire and spending a year or two cruising the eastern med. Perhaps based in Port Gocek.

Next stop Lanzarote!

Forget Lanzarote, its only for heavy weather sailors, go just west of Playa Blanca near the lighthouse and you will really see what I mean.

As for Turkey, yes but its not at European standards. Look just a little north to the Adriatic like Dubrovnik ( it was 30 degs there with us last Tuesday and little less Wednesday) and you will see the prices are little different but with European standards, and totally unpolluted seas etc. (2 days drive from S. England too). Get your boat there and then we can look after it for you for free )

Dubrovnik is our local 'Bognor'

An additional observation.....

Tuborg is perhaps the crappiest lager in the world. Take half a glass of Heineken (the UK stuff not the decent foreign stuff) and top-up with Soda water. The result will taste just like Tuborg.
