It appears that Immigration and Yobbery are big topics in the election. I propose a simple solution.

We declare the country full. An immigrant goes on stand by. He then trades places with a convicted yob.

At one fell swoop we get the useful hard working immigrant and we get a Yob a des res in Karachi or Lagos or Istanbul.

It's what Morrisons call a two for one.

There was an even better policy in our not too distant past...Transportation...a brilliant policy.

The Australians are allways moaning about the transportation policy under which their country was populated. The most often heard moan is that the terrible English Judge sent their ancestors to Australia for stealing a loaf of bread. What they neglect to mention is the 4 people killed durging the robery of aforsaid bread.

If I was rich enoough to be a tax dodger, I would emigrate voluntarily!
As it is the Inland Revenue know where I live and what I earn, and seem to be getting an ever increasing share of it. They and their polititian masters are the ones I want to kick out of the country.

Perhaps the "benefits scroungers" could be accompanied by rich tax dodgers as well?

And by the time you add in the politicians, and the yobs - there'll only be a handful of mobo's left /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Along a similar track I remember reading somewhere that a good solution to Euthenasia and starvation in the third world would be to send our old people to Africa.

I was thinking the same thing. Let all the immigrants in, take the yobs' passports off them and then transport all the hard working souls of this country to oz and nz.

As for somebody else's comment about the gloating, competitive aussies I find the best cure for that is to quite frankly not give a [censored]. Mabe a retort of "isn't it great being ruled by another country's monarch?" or "so, whose sheep did your grandad steal?" will help international relations too /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

the gloating, competitive aussies

I watched the rugby world cup final in a pub in melbourne. i kept pretty quiet, thinking i stood a fair chance of being lynched. afterwards there were all manner of gloating jokes spreading across the internetnet from england. in australia there was outrage not at the defeat but over the fact that their PM gave out the winners medals with a long face, letting down australian sportsmanship.

[/ QUOTE ]I think you will find basic income tax as collected by the IR hasn't gone up much at all under the current regime - it's all been NI and indirect taxes.

It is the sheer naivety of all you comfortably off malcontents that amazes me . . . you can't run a country without taxes, so I presume you are all anarchists? I get the impression that the only place most of you would feel at home is back on the frontier in the days of the American pioneers, living amorally with a gun in your hand and taking whatever you wanted from any weaklings in your path. Appendicitis and childbirth might be a little more traumatic though.

If you really don't like the current government then you have an opportunity to do something about it next month . . . but whoever you vote for I am afraid the government will get in, and they will tax you. On the other hand if you think another country is doing it better then why not go and live there?

I get the impression that people in this thread don't like subsidies for "scroungers", but go bananas if there's any possiblity of the rest of the public not subsidising our red diesel!
