Thanks to the passing MoBos that slowed when passing Sea Rush on Saturday as we quietly drifted just off Griffiths' Crossing, saying "cheerio" to a well loved fellow yottie (Mike Tomlinson of Kestor) A Yorkshire man thro & thro with a wicked sense of humour, he will be missed, but not forgotten.

That includes Philliz, who must have wondered what we were up to - sorry I wasn't very communicative!

BTW, we ate in the Doc behind the Victoria Dock, part of the Galleria, excellent food, reasonable price & good service - quite different form the over priced overcrowded restaurant on the North side of the dock.

Just as it went dusk, there was a Heron perched on the marina sill which was just below the surface at the time - looking for fish trying to get in or out of the dock rather late I guess. But it did look strange to see a Heron "walking on what appeared to be continuous deep water. I was impressed with his nerve, one slip & he would be in really deep water & I wouldn't fancy his chances of ever getting out of it again once his feathers were wet. I just wish I'd had a camera that would do it justice, but just a phone with the equivalent of a 28mm lens.

Ah, sorry to disturb the event, we didn't realise what you were up to. A fitting end for a good pal though, and a good day for it too. We didn't know Mike but he clearly had some very good friends.

No disturbance at all, pleased to see you. We were just heading back.

In addition to the cockpit full of blokes you could see, there was a party of ladies below remembering with a glass of wine & a cup of tea or three. A veritable floating wake - may someone enjoy doing the same for me one day (but not just yet please!)

One of the locals with us told me that the sand is starting to pile up around Plas Menai at the moment. CHT have put extra bouys in to take traffic right over to the Anglesey side just there. I went straight over the top & didn't get less than 30' at HW, but it was a big tide so the water a LW there might be rather thin.

I shall think of Mike every time & run aground now. :D

It must have been a memorable way to commemorate a fellow yachties passing.

My mates Dad passed away recently..The family had a seabourne ceremony for the scattering of the ashes.

Ashes were spreading out on the shiny calm sea when a very large Basking shark came along....

Family loved the fact someone who introduced many to the ocean waves had finally been swallowed by a whale to carry on travelling the oceans.
