Our first trip of the season last weekend, and our Daughter wanted to come along, as well as the little chap.
Daughter is terrified of tippy boats, so we agreed to motor up to meet the Artemii at North Fambridge.
Screwing her courage to the sticking post, she got up behind the wheel and had her first ever crack at steering. A wee bit wonky, but mostly due to the bow being blown off at 22kts of breeze fine on the nose. Little chap was as happy as a sand boy, as it was his second trip out on the boat. He waves furiously at everything in sight.

She even began to enjoy herself

and the Little Chap certainly was

A splendid evening with the Artemii, where we cooked 3 fray Bentos pies simultaneously in the Full Circle Oven, and Nev produced Chorizo in red wine and Garlic Prawns, we glugged several litres of wine and whisky, and resorted to talking b()lleaux.

Sailed off the pontoon, and spun FC round slowly backing and gybing, we sailed for the best part of 5 minutes before realising that Burnham was 4 days sail away at that pace.
I switched on the donk, to the obvious pleasure of Daughter, and gave Little Chap the wheel on an empty river. He swung the wheel backward and forward, and we created a couple of graceful figures of 8 in different directions, before settling to a slow plod back up river.

Geese were in by the bank swimming against the tide, and several dozen of them made progress into the creeks of Bridgemarsh Island

Also caught the holes in the riverbank where untold amounts of wildlife live

Yes, that really is Bridgemarsh marina in the background with a heat haze

Loved the way they followed each other in through the gap.

Also saw this one guy making very unhurried progress, he didn't look in the slightest bit bothered.

and so into our new home. This is the stretch just inside the marker pole, follow the port hand barrels

Once tied up, we had a bit of lunch and were joined by Mrs Vreny and Vreny Primus Minor, who seemed very content with his dummy, watching our Little Chap playing with his new stick and string toy.

And so home. Lovely, easy weekend. No world records, but then there were none wanted breaking because the world was at rest.

Well what can i say, a beautiful morning in the process of drifting into a similar afternoon. The while about my chores there is a distant whisper from the VHF "artemis artemis this is fullcircle fullcircle, no! it couldnt be the FC's will be well tucked up on th hard not venturing out and about in march.

Should i or should'nt i respond not sure but i dont think i have ever had anyone hail me on the VHF in march before, perhaps i am mistaken. Then just as i had settled back to my chores SWMBO in her dulset tones said hey anr going to answer that bloody radio.

So a little nervy i ventured to pic up the talky bit struggling to remember how the dam thing worked responded to the gostly call, and then silence as the seconds passed nothing, thank god twas just imagination happily back to my chores.

THEN horror of horror's crisp and clear "artemis artemis this is fullcircle fullcircle, dont panic we can pretend we're not here, but we are on the hammer head they will sail right past! we could pull the curtains like we used to with the rent man. Oh dam it they may not stop. "fullcircle full circle this is artemis. yes of course come along side.

Well from there the rest is a hazy memory of heaps of FB pies and such and an excellent evening of merryment.

Thank you Lynn Emma Jim and the little anklebiter if only every sat afternoon could this relaxed

Brilliant post Jim, must admit I did wonder if she would go for it after talking with her, she certainly didn't sound keen. Another convert by the looks of things there

Sounds a good idea, but she's now 5 and just as much of a madam as her mother was. Still, we managed to marry her off somehow.
