The new word or term is "doing a Butler,or just "a Butler"

This is when someone seriously F***s up, but you hold a meeting and decide who is to blame but no one carries the can. Not unless you can find the S***house cleaner responsible, in which case you bring down the full force of the law on him.
Why is it that the further up the chain of command you go the less they have to take responsibility.
I think it must be me and my simple way of looking at things, but I always thought that those at the top took responsibilty for their actions.

Peter.

I disagree..

Totally disagree with you.

A Butler is when you lie like f** but then you get some one else to say that no one did anything wrong although wrong was done.

Re: I disagree..

Closure will be achieved with the resignation or sacking of Tony Blair ... go on Queenie ... see if the illusion of the ultimate constitutional check actually works .. dismiss your deceitful first minister!

Re: I disagree..

The only trouble with getting rid of him is the spectre of Gordon standing in the wings - the prospect of that scares me rigid! /forums/images/icons/crazy.gif

Re: I disagree..

A sign of the way politics works nowadays is that Robin Cook, by his own admission, accepted that he would never become Prime Minster because of his, ahem, quirky looks.

A pity, because imho he is one of the 2 cleverest men in the Labour party: G. Brown being the other. He also had the courage of his convictions, and resigned over Iraq.

However scary some of the alternatives to the Rev. A R Blair may seem, none of them induce quite the same horror in me as the spectre of Prime Minister Michael Howard /forums/images/icons/crazy.gif.
