I've been out with the junior Norwegian sailors (up to 14/15 years old) competting for the Norway Cup. (I'm starter on one of the committee boats). This is my first exposer to the Norwegian 'junior' sailing, and I'm impressed, by the number of girls taking part. At lease 50% of the competitors are girls. In one class they out number boys (14/15 yrs) 8 to 2.
Theres about 175-180 boats taking part, from all over Norway. The wind or lack of it, cut short today events. So we have an early start tomorrow. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Son of an old friend coaches the RYA women's olympic keelboat squad. While Shirley was out getting the medal he was back home bringing on the next generation so there are plenty of top flight youngsters around here, you just don't get to hear much about them till they hit the headlines.
