I have put it to Kim and it seems possible that he can set up an ARC forum, there are a few of us entered in the Rally. It is a bit selfish of me really, knowing that there is a mine of information on this subject on this very board, wanting to tap into the experience not only sailing but flight bookings harbours and the like.

The aim of a separate board really is to avoid bogging down the day to day pleasant banter of this one for the sake of those who will not be interested.

Maybe this post should be a poll to see how many people would like to contribute.

Hopefully when in the Atlantic we can report directly on our progress with some frank views of the crossing, but again, only if anyone is interested. I don't fancy emailing “tales from the high seas” if people don't want to know!

Anyways up folks - the offer is here…….

What Jimi, the unabridged and Day Melon versions?

U) Fantastic noon-noon run 197 miles, chased by dolphins and mermaids. Had a few beers to celebrate so just going for a lie down, see ya!

D) Miserable night with probably worse to come. Now seriously worried about collision with mammals. Sleep is a priority, we'll just have to see how it goes. Only 197 miles day run. Just taking it a day at a time...

That the sort of thing?

Yeah like... "Today seriously worried about the Red Funnel Ferries. 250 miles Sw of the Azores and the St Cecilia missed us by 10 feet . No point in complaining to QHM as not only is he banged away but I suppose its just outside his jurisdiction. Seriously bored now, think I'll climb the mast cos the walls just ain't high enough. Hope Mrs G ain't bonkin the newspaper boy. Now where's that inflator. Ferkin Waterlog do'nt work .."

Re: Alternatively...

"Quietly sipping beer some 400 miles West of Cape Verdes when we glanced behind and saw foaming water coming our way very fast. As we donned our lifejackets we noticed a vessel pass us at an astonishing speed. Sure enough, it was Zefender who waved graciously as he passed" Note to self: must get one of those Bavs... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

More like, he'll get halfway across and get carved up by a load of Sunsail yachts on a corporate team building jolly!

Re: Alternatively...

I think in general terms that this would be a good idea. But why not include those of us doing the Rally Portugal? After all, it is the first part of the ARC, isn't it. Or at least, sailing that bit of ocean is. There is at least one other forumite going down Portugal way this spring.
If it goes well, we can use it next year when we plan to do the ARC /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
