A money saving idea

I needed a small quantity of expanding foam to repair a double skin locker lid. I had 3/4 of a can but the nozzle was blocked. I made a hole in the can with a bradawl so I could control the flow. Well, it sort of worked and the locker lid is repaired. All I have to do now is clean the goo off the garage door, car, windows and most of my tool kit. Saved myself £4 quid though!

I once thought it would be irresponsible to put a used can of expanding foam in the bin, in case it later exploded. So I put it in a bin bag and shot it at point blank range with an air rifle. It hadn't occurred to me that the bag, having been shot, would now have a hole in it.
It's amazing how much foam there is in a supposedly used can... and how much can fly out of a small hole...

I once had one burst in the boot of my car. I have a photo somewhere of my car full of foam and me covered from head to foot. Luckily missed my eyes.

It's always best to turn the can upside down and depress the nozzle until just propellant emerges, in order to clear it, if not intending to use it for more than a couple of minutes.
If the nozzle does get blocked it's easy enough to unblock with the aid of a piece of wire and a solvent such as cellulose thinners.
