We were sitting having an ice cream at Treardur Bay, and along came this gentlemen with his home made rowing boat. He was saying last time he took it out, that it is a little close to the water, so he built the stability pole, with floats either side to stop it rolling over.

After he assembled it on the beach, I was not sure he was going to fit into it - but in he got..

Then off he went, thankfully it was as smooth as a lake, but he did really well.. (although I would have taken a life jacket!)

And finally he made it back!

Quite impressive and innovative, perhaps not quite the tender we might use, but easy to assemble and fits one with comfort!

what a lot of fun he's had ! Stability wise, the upthust on the immersed float is just about as much as the down thrust from the half strut, so it's just the righting effect of the arm out of the water that's keeping him upright.

A bit of science doesn't stop a sense of adventure, and a winter project satisfactorily completed, though.
