Ahh. That depends on how many you need and what size your bags are.

Is it a racy item, or a sluggardly cruisy thing?

A racy item requires a thong and a toothbrush. Dried Food, Red Bull

A cruisy thing, whatever will fit down the companionway, if you have your own cabin. Fray Bentos, Case of beer.

S'easy.

underwear, tee shirts and a warm jumper. Some mars bars, your lifejacket and wet weather gear. Toiletries.

So a small holdall or backpack should be fine.

You going sailing huh! Does you life jacket have a harness too, water is very cold this time of year!

And I thought it was just in my household!

I can go an a week's holiday with one holdall, but the other three (SWMBO & 2 daughters), well . . . .

They even take a LARGE holdall just for the shoes . . . /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I have found that women ALWAYS fill the available space so I think your going about this the wrong way. Go ask how much room is on your intended saily boat and that will give you your answer. The cut off point seems to be when the space available on the boat is greater than the space available on any luggage carrrying equipment i.e Volvo Estate pulling a 4 wheel trailer. This is a case of the chain and weakest link stuff, in your case, from door to boat, which has the smallest load carrying capacity, that will be your answer<s>
