Lynne and Larry Pardey have got to be right at the top surely!

I don't think they have the literary talented of Hal Roth but they sure impart a huge amount of valuable cruising knowledge to the masses.

IMO absolutely - missed him from my post & I've just read 2 of his books!

Much under-rated writer (not seaman:)).

that may be in part down to his modesty. he was certainly a superlative navigator: 130,000 miles in 20 years with no electronic aids apart from a transistor radio, and many of them a very long way off the beaten track e.g. The Aleutians
