Hi All
It was a bit misty when we got the boat into the water. But what the heck. the sun was trying to burn it off. What wind there was was northerly so Port St Mary was on the shelterd side.
The boat came off the trailer easily. This is Steves, aka Neddie Seagoons boat, his fun boat, he has others. I was along as crew.
The engine ws a bit reluctant to start as the petrol was of last years vintage. but eventually it fired up.
The plan was for us two to go out and see if all was well, then return and collect both Steves Lovely Lady and their new addition to the family, a large standard Poodle. This addition had never been to sea, being of a tender age, so it was time for an introduction.
So out we went. The sun was starting to break through but the wind, what there was of it was a bit chilly.
We dropped down to the Suygar Loaf rock wherer several other boats were lurking, hoping to catch something. I had heard that there was not a lot about yet, it being the 27th March.
Now here's a happy man
So as all was well we tootled, on tick over, back to Port St Mary after a phone call to arrange pick up time. Steve drove back leaving me with the boat. ''Back in 20 minutes'' he said, so I shoved off and had a little blast on my own. I was back intime to meet them. (A tad reluctactly) and they all climbed, hopped, were handed into the boat. I leave it to your imagination who did the hopping handing and climbing.
Off we went again. Very serenly so as not to alarm the pooch. Ha!!! No problem at all. Well Poodles like Labs just love water.
After a thorough investigation from for'ard to aft the pooch decided it was her turn to helm.
And a right good job she did of it, Pity about the wake being a bit twisty.
Still, after about half an hour it was time for them to go ashore so off went trundled back to PSM and again I was left in charge so off I trotted again.
I have been with Kwacker in a simiolar RIB but not at speed, so I thought 'Here;s a chance to see what happens'. When I was well clear of the harbour and its surrounds I crancked the throttle open. WTF....It took off. Wham Thud Splash........Crikey and other nautical phrases.. Shut the freekin throttle lad. or you will be airborn. Whew! sanity returnss.
I did however come across this
All on its own, painted black.. no numbers that I could see. did my beady old eyes deceive me because one minute I saw it. then
It vanished. only to reappear as the little wave passed. The tide by this time was flooding about three hours after low water. After my recent much hgher speed excursion this brought it home to me that I would NOT like to meet that hidden danger, I felt like cutting the damn thing loose. How can anyone leave a pot buoy like that.
Well Steve returned and we went out again just to really enjoy being there. The sun was now in a bright blue sky.. Calm water. What more could you want.
Well there's a house with a view
And here's a flock of cormorants hoping for some dinner.
So back we went
My thanks again to Steve for a grerat time.
Maybe we will have a good summer this year, well we deserve it don't we !!!
Best to all out there.
