Being on grandchild duty last Friday and the tides being too middayish for a boat trip, we went to Bawdsey for excellent fish & chips at the Ferry Cafe (line-caught cod) and a look at the water;
As the little mite is interested in history we then went to Landguard Fort which has an interesting history and is very evocative to visit. We belong to English Heritage, so it only cost us £1 for the little one. It's still being developed as an attraction but already there is quite a lot to see, though the loos are a bit primitive.
